This engine was built by Buddy Harley.
He had a very unique approach about how he wanted things to look. I have to say that overall this engine and base is very nice.
The most noticeable part of this display is the granite base. This is real granite and is 1" thick. The sub base is plywood. The wood trim around the edges finishes this base.
An external brass fuel tank is mounted in front of the engine. You can also see the on/off switch that is mounted in the granite base.
Another custom touch on this engine is the six sided exhaust. It is made form brass.
A rear view of the engine reveals a brass connecting rod.
There is a lot of brass on this engine. Even the pushrod is brass.
Before his death, Buddy got a blue ribbon at a show for this engine.

The fuel tank is brass. The shutoff valve is directly below the tank.

The mixer was purchased from us but does have a modification. The spring was removed and a weight added. It works just fine.

Another change to the original plans was the addition of a set of points and brass cam. The original point design was not used on this engine.
An automotive coil and 12 volt relay is used to create a buzz coil. These parts are mounted under the base.
The battery is a 9.6 VDC rechargeable battery. It is also mounted under the base.
This engine starts and runs good.

Although a lot of time was taken in many of the custom features on this engine, there are a couple of areas that I have to point out.
The seam left where the two parts of the mold touch was not cleaned up as well as it should have been.
I am only mentioning this, not as an insult to the builder, but to make sure that the new owner knows what they are getting. Like most people, I also hate surprises.
To clean this up and repaint the engine would give you an engine to display, unlike anything else you will find at a model show.
The water cooled engine, also on a granite base, will be available soon. There were a lot more areas that needed cleaning up so I did the work myself. If you are interested in the pair of engines, give us a call and we can talk price.
This engine is being offered to you for $2600.00 plus freight.
The engine will have to be removed from the base and the two parts shipped separately.
Thanks for looking!
